Is your gear truly tested for the Canadian Winter?
Without question. We don't rely on lab tests alone. Our flagship insulated jackets and 4-season tents spend weeks in the Yukon at -30°C before we ever approve a production run. We use heavy-duty YKK zippers that won't snap in the cold, and our proprietary DWR-coated ripstop nylon is engineered to shed heavy, wet coastal snow as effectively as dry prairie powder. Every seam is double-stitched and tape-sealed to prevent elemental ingress.
What is the sourcing standard for your Merino Wool?
Every strand of Merino wool in our base layers is sourced from 100% ethically managed, non-mulesed sheep farms. We partner with suppliers who prioritize animal welfare and sustainable grazing practices. This isn't just a buzzword for us; it ensures a higher quality, stronger, and softer fiber that provides unmatched thermoregulation when you're sweating up a steep scree slope and then sitting static at a belay station.
How should I care for my technical hardshell jacket?
Dirt, sweat, and campfire smoke degrade the breathability of waterproof membranes. Wash your hardshell in a front-loading machine with a specialized technical wash (never standard detergent or fabric softener). Tumble dry on low heat—this is critical, as the heat reactivates the factory DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. Once water stops beading on the surface, it's time to reapply a spray-on DWR treatment.
Logistics & Deployment
How fast can you get gear to my basecamp?
Standard deployment (shipping) takes 3-7 business days across Canada, utilizing our trusted logistics network to reach even rural outposts. For urgent alpine starts, our Express Deployment gets gear to most Canadian addresses in 1-3 business days. If you are shipping to a remote fly-in community or require an air drop, contact our Outpost directly to coordinate with local bush pilots.
What if my gear fails or I ordered the wrong size?
We back our gear. Unused equipment in its original condition can be returned within 30 days. However, safety equipment like climbing ropes, harnesses, carabiners, and ice axes are final sale due to liability and safety standards—we won't compromise your life by reselling returned life-support gear. If your Boreal Peak gear suffers a catastrophic failure due to a manufacturing defect while in the field, our Ironclad Warranty covers a comprehensive repair or full replacement.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, Boreal Peak Outfitters is focused exclusively on outfitting the Canadian wilderness. We ship to all provinces and territories within Canada, from the Maritimes to the Arctic Archipelago. We are exploring international logistics to bring our rugged Canadian aesthetic to the rest of the world, but our primary mandate remains supporting local expeditions first.
